Vegetable Kofta Curry Recipe

Vegetable Kofta Curry Recipe:

Today I am sharing Vegetable Kofta curry recipe.It is easy to cook and the only tricky part is making the kofta balls.
I have not used any flour to make the koftas,instead used soaked bread slices.
 Kofta curry is a very common and delicious dish all over India of Moghlai origin.The Koftas can be either grilled,steamed or  fried,we are doing the deep fried version.Ghee or any vegetable oil can be used to fry the koftas.

Kofta Curry Ingredients:

Ingredients for Kofta:

  • 1 cup vegetables(cauliflower,carrot,beans etc).
  • 2 medium potatoes.
  • 2 bread slices.
  • Breadcrumbs.
  • oil for deep frying
  • salt.
  • black pepper powder.
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder.

Ingredients For the Curry:

  • 2 table spoon onion paste.
  • 2 table spoon ginger garlic paste.
  • 1 table spoon cream.
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder.
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder.
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder.
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder.
  • 1 cup green peas.
  • 1 bay leaf.
  • 3 to 4 crushed cardamoms.
  • 1 cinnamon stick(1").
  • 2 dried red chilies.
  • garam masala powder.
  • salt.
  • ghee.

Kofta Curry Cooking process:

Preparing the Koftas:


  1. Was and cut the vegetables in small pieces and boil them.Make sure to peel the carrot before cutting.Also boil the potatoes in another vessel and let them cool.
  2. Now soak the bread slices in water and mix it with the vegetables.Mash the vegetables and potatoes.
  3. Make small balls ,roll them on breadcrumbs and deep fry them.Keep aside.Your koftas are ready.

Preparing the Curry:

  1. Heat ghee in a pan and add the bay leaf,dried red chilies,crushed cardamoms,cinnamon stick(1") and stir fry for a minute or so.
  2. Add the onion paste,ginger garlic paste and saute for 2 minutes in low heat.Now add the cumin powder,coriander powder,turmeric powder,red chili powder,mix well.Fry till t ghee separates from the spices.Also add the green peas and stir fry.
  3. Add water and salt,place a lid and bring it to boil.Add the cream and mix well.Add the Koftas and cook in medium heat for 2 to 3 minutes.Add garam masala and your kofta curry is ready.
  4. Serve hot with rice or roti.
